~UPDATE~

In light of concerns related to COVID-19, the "Brain, Interrupted" pub talk originally scheduled for March 24th will be postponed until further notice. Information will be added to this page as it becomes available!

Thank you for your interested in the Postdoc Talk event series.

Date: TBD

Come meet your friendly neighborhood scientists! Listen in as two researchers from Weill Cornell Medicine discuss what they are doing in the lab to advance the scientific frontier in the neuroscience of mental illness. Learn about how stress during development (childhood and adolescence) or during adulthood can have different impacts on the risk for disorders like anxiety and depression and the severity of symptoms. Our speakers will also talk about some of the most recent work that is being done in these areas to improve treatment options.

First up, Danielle Gerhard will outline how experiences during development, including exposure to stress, can alter how the brain matures, and how this influences the risk for anxiety. She will also talk about sex differences in how stress can impact the brain.

Next, Puja Parekh will discuss the impact of stress on symptoms and brain patterns in depression, even at the level of an individual brain cell. Puja will also highlight cutting-edge work related to new potential treatments.

Each presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.

All are welcome, we hope to see you there!
